Recreation unlimited Fun & Friends “RuFF”

Shasta Fairgrounds is the place to be on April Fool’s Day 2017, and that’s no joke! It’s the 10th anniversary of Love Your Pet Expo. For the 3rd year, they will team up with the North State Super Adoption Event, to present the biggest annual California pet event north of Sacramento. This free pet friendly event will start at 10am with a gift bag at the gate, followed by a day of fun that ends at 4pm. Join “The Joke’s On Us” contests including “The Punch Line” costume contest, “Pet Owner Look Alike” and “Funniest Pet Trick” contest with much more. This is an indoor/outdoor event so rain or shine you can enjoy demos, contests, free samples, exhibits, booths, refreshments, and lots of games. Plan to attend the silent and not-so-silent charity auctions, to raise funds for the special needs animals at the Love Your Pet Expo Sanctuary. Information on pet nutrition, safety, first aid and think-adoption-first, will be available all day. Shasta & Tehama County rescues will be there with pets up for adoption. Low cost vaccinations, heart-worm testing, micro chipping & pet registration will be offered. “Be a Tree” demo will help school aged children learn how to avoid dog bite situations. Love Your Pet Expo Sanctuary is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation. This event is their biggest annual fundraiser, allowing them to support the many animals now living at the sanctuary, and expand their programs with other rescues and the public.

What Your Pet Can Teach You

I am honored that so many people look to me to help them enjoy more fulfilling relationships with their dogs, but the truth is that the dogs themselves have been my teachers. Here are some of the ways dogs have helped me become a better, happier, and more-balanced human being. People often wonder how I get such quick results with the dogs I rehabilitate. I tell my clients to follow this simple rule with their dogs: Offer exercise, discipline, and affection every day. By paying attention to nonverbal cues such as body language and energy, we can learn more about our friends, our loved ones, and ourselves. Great relationships, no matter the species, begin with clear and consistent communication. A great leader is also a great follower and knows that everybody counts. There’s a remarkable lack of conflict in dog packs. When dogs are bored, they develop issues ranging from anxiety to aggression. Ask yourself how you can contribute more to your job, your family, and the world around you. Every walk is the best walk, every meal is the best meal, every game is the best game. We can learn so much by observing the way our pets rejoice in life’s simplest moments. Take time every day to celebrate the many gifts that are hidden in the ordinary events of your own life. Tilly is a sweet, loving, playful Jack Russell terrier. She is 4 years old and would love to be your only dog. She loves to play ball, tug on ropes, chew on bones and be spoiled. She would love to have undivided attention and would thrive being in a household with no other dogs. Tilly loves to get ear scratches and is a great lap dog. To see a complete list of our pups please visit our website or check out our Facebook page. Our adoption fees range from $150-$225 depending on the dog’s age.
