Wellness exams are critical for young, middle aged and senior pets. Pets continue to need booster shots throughout adulthood to maintain immunity to common illnesses and deadly diseases. We track each pet’s vaccination schedule, so pet owners always know when it’s time to get the next shot. Just like people, pets need to have their teeth cleaned, their cavities filled and their dental disease treated. We use diagnostic tools like ultrasound images and our in-house lab to diagnose your pet’s condition accurately.
We welcome all pets in the Eaton Rapids, Mason, Charlotte and surrounding areas to visit us for treatment from a quality and caring veterinary staff. Whether your pet needs a checkup, dental care or other service, we encourage you to call Snow Animal Health, your Eaton Rapids veterinarians, and make an appointment today.
Spay/Neuter Your Pet
Spaying your pet before her first heat offers the best protection from these diseases. Lack of exercise and overfeeding will cause your pet to pack on the extra pounds-not neutering. Your pet will remain fit and trim as long as you continue to provide exercise and monitor her food intake. Although neutering your pet often reduces undesirable behaviors caused by a higher level of testosterone, there’s no guarantee that your dog’s behavior will change after he’s neutered. When to Spay or Neuter Your Pet.For dogs: While the traditional age for neutering is six to nine months, puppies as young as eight weeks old can be neutered as long as they’re healthy.
Talk to your veterinarian to determine the best time to spay or neuter your pet. Although your pet may experience some discomfort after surgery, your veterinarian can take various measures to control pain. Depending on the procedure performed, medication for pain may be sent home with your pet. Provide your pet with a quiet place to recover indoors and away from other animals. Prevent your pet from running and jumping for up to two weeks following surgery, or as long as your veterinarian recommends.
Prevent your pet from licking the incision site, which may cause infection, by distracting your pet with treats or by using an Elizabethan collar. Avoid bathing your pet for at least ten days after surgery.

While pet dental care is an important part of pet health care, it is unfortunately overlooked by most pet owners. Your pet can suffer from irreversible conditions including tooth and gum loss, as well as damage to the heart and kidney failure caused by bacteria from the mouth entering the pet’s bloodstream.
To prevent dental disease and oral conditions we recommend having your pet’s mouth checked during their wellness exam. Another important type of preventative care is microchipping for pets. To protect your pet from getting lost or stolen, we offer microchipping. If your pet has been in an accident, has tumors, or is suffering from an illness that requires surgery, we offer full-service surgery. Your Brunswick veterinarian has an underwater treadmill, balance boards, and more tools to help with pet physical rehabilitation.
In addition to physical rehabilitation and pet surgery, we offer dental and micro-chipping. Our veterinarians Drs. Horgan, Wood, Cowan, and Parthum are available to improve your pet’s health and well-being.
