Caught on camera: Boy steals puppy from Mt. Healthy pet store

Healthy Pets Animal Hospital

Recently our dog injured his back leg and was in incredible pain. Everything was very transparent, with an eye towards keeping my dog healthy but not overcharging us for services. They even call to check up on our dog the next day! We would highly recommend these folks to anyone looking for an honest, knowledgeable vet office. After spending nearly half a thousand dollars this place refused to return my dog unless I paid a remaining 13 dollar balance I asked if I could pay later but they told me no so I told them I would go to the bank and return.

They sent out a woman with a paper of post care info and attempted to FORCE me to listen before returning my dog which was completely unacceptable to me so I again demanded my dog be returned with no further discussion – this time increasing my colorful language to get the point across. She takes such good care of my dog and always calls to check up after a visit. After about 10 mins, I went back inside and checked on when I could get my dog in and that he was really struggling to hold on. 10 more minutes later a receptionist came out to me and said that they could have seen me and my dog 20 mins earlier but didn’t know where I was. We took our dog here from when she was a puppy until she was almost 4. It wasn’t even the issue of the dog needing to go elsewhere, it was that in a state of near panic with my furry friend’s health at stake, I was dismissed as if I were stupid to have taken my dog to her vet when she needed medical attention.

I am new to the state of Washington and I am very picky on who I take my Baby Girl to, someone told me about this place so I made an appointment to go check them out and same day ended up having my dog looked at by them because of how welcoming they were and how comfortable my dog was with being in there when normally she panics with any vet she goes into, but here she actually did very well and all,the employees there actually did great with her and took there time with her Whitch is something I really loved about this place. It is fine as a waiting room, but while I was there some poor woman had to put her dog down and then had to go back into the waiting room filled with happy dogs to wait to pay.

Heroes For Healthy Pets to the rescue

If you support healthy pets and are doing something to take action to minimize the risk of spreading infectious disease, you ought to be a superhero, according to the Heroes For Healthy Pets initiative. Your education superskill will reach veterinary professionals as well as those employed in allied professions, such dog day care centers and boarding facilities, as well as groomers, dog trainers, and dog walkers-and it can save lives. The program, which offers two education modules on infectious disease that are RACE-approved for CE credits, is sponsored by Merck Animal Health, and is co-sponsored by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America, the International Boarding & Pet Services Association, and Pet Sitters International. Passing the two modules and a quiz will identify you as a Hero For Healthy Pets. Many educational opportunities exist, but what’s truly unique and transformational about Heroes For Healthy Pets is that the heroes aren’t limited to the veterinary profession.

Some boarding facilities closed their doors during the height of the initial outbreak of H3N2 CIV in Chicago, but others likely contributed to the outbreak, as they didn’t have appropriate protocols. Some boarding facilities were forced to close-though at least they were honest about the flu outbreak in their facilities. All this could be prevented by following the American Animal Hospital Association’s vaccination guidelines, which state that dogs in group settings, like those that visit kennels or dog shows, should receive vaccinations for both strains of dog flu. Pet owners are encouraged to look for the Heroes For Healthy Pets logo-and consistently see the integration of the same logo at veterinary practices to kennels to day care facilities to dog training facilities to shelters. Overall, most clients will listen to veterinary expertise, Ward said.

The Heroes for Healthy pets modules are free at heroes4healthypets.com. Access to a podcast series on infectious diseases hosted by Courtney Campbell, DVM

American Veterinary Medical Foundation

The American Veterinary Medical Foundation is proud to be home to Partners for Healthy Pets, a profession-wide initiative comprised of animal health companies, non-profit organizations, state veterinary medical associations and colleges of veterinary medicine. Partners for Healthy Pets’ mission is to ensure that pets receive the preventive healthcare they deserve through regular visits to a veterinarian. While the percentage of preventable illnesses is on the rise in our beloved pets, the percentage of America’s 130 million cats and dogs who visit a veterinarian for a regular checkup is on the decline. Partners for Healthy Pets provides information and resources for veterinary healthcare teams to help promote preventive healthcare for all patients in their practices. The result is healthier patients and healthier practices!

A yearly checkup is the best way to keep your pet as healthy as possible – because it’s much easier to prevent disease than to treat it. Whether your dog frolics at the park with all the neighborhood pups, or the closest your cat gets to the great outdoors is a sunny windowsill, every pet needs to see their vet – at least once a year! Partners for Healthy Pets offers a website for pet owners that brings awareness to the importance of regular checkups for their pets and answers common pet owner questions about preventive healthcare. Partners for Healthy Pets is committed to a vision of improved overall health for pets. PHP provides tools that help communicate the value and benefit of preventive care, enhance the veterinary client relationship, and improve the overall quality of preventive healthcare provided for patients.

Pet Health Community: Support Group

Have used the same vet for 4 years and he has doneok; i took my old tibetan spaniel in for grooming. When i picked her up her right leg was up to her stomach. I have spinal stenois and on that particularday i was in great pain and said nothing. For three weeks i spent time finding a combination offoods she would eat and helped her walk. At firstshe was very weak, but little by little she walked aroundon her three legs by the 6th week she was using alllegs. I called the vet to find out what they had done and heplayed dumb. So i got my records sent to another vet; when i wentto pick up meds for the dogs; they refused servicebecause they were friends with the other vet. I got the paperwork and called several vets and finallysettled on one i had used many years prior. I told thatvet what happened; in case he didnt want to provideme with a script for my dogs meds. He didnt mindand was concerned that the original vet had refusedto deal with the matter. What can i do to see that this doesnt happen anymorewith this vet and their calling to prevent vets from helping me out.

Especially when let outside without supervision, pet animals who have not been spayed or neutered can multiply rapidly, causing a potential health problem if the babies end up roaming the neighborhood. Spaying or neutering your pet means you don’t need to worry about finding homes for kittens and puppies, and you help shelters by not adding to the number of animals they need to find homes for. The importantce of vaccinating your pet, even INDOOR PETS: Your pet can be exposed to rabies from certain types of wildlife outdoors, OR if an animal with rabies gets into your home and in contact with your pet. Bats can easily get into homes that are not batproofed. Because a small percentage of bats carry rabies, a bat exposure can result in a lengthy quarantine to an unvaccinated pet if the bat cannot be tested. Your pet can also be exposed to rabies through the bite or scratch of an animal, such as a skunk or raccoon, that is infected with rabies. Technical Information about rabies is available from the Compendium of Animal Rabies Prevention and Control.

Veterans Health Administration

The “Pets for Vets” program was begun to help Vets through the loving interaction with a pet, a completely understanding, accepting, loving presence that can make you laugh when you feel down or just be a friend. Pets add so much to our existence that I can’t imagine life without one. This summer the San Francisco VA Medical Center is celebrating its 11th year of operating “Pets for Vets,” a program designed to provide a pet to Veterans at no cost. The brainchild of Dr. Russell Lemle, Chief Psychologist at the SFVAMC, “Pets for Vets” operates solely on donations. Dr. Lemle, a pet lover himself, used his own funds as seed money, and enlisted Voluntary Service to establish a fund for other donations. “Pets for Vets” is a caring effort in which everyone benefits. Cats and dogs are adopted into homes and Veterans gain the love and companionship that pets bring. “When we first met, she ran right up to me and started making circles like a drover dog does so I knew we were supposed to connect. The Pets for Vets program is great. I love it.” “The elderly, who often experience disproportionate loneliness and loss, are especially well served by pets,” said Dr. Lemle. “Studies have suggested that pet owners have fewer annual visits to physicians, take less medication, recuperate better from certain surgeries and take more walks.” According to the Centers for Disease Control, owning a pet can have measurable medical benefits, including decreasing blood pressure, cholesterol levels and triglyceride levels. To complement the free adoption program, the halls of the San Francisco VA Medical Center have been graced with a permanent gallery of 30 professional photographic portraits of Veterans with their pets. All portraits were taken by Don Crowe, Ph.D., a Bay Area psychologist who is one of the leading pet photographers in the country. The Pets for Vets project is now almost completely supported by a grant from the Annenberg Foundation through their Dog Bless USA project. To learn more about Pets for Vets, contact Russell Lemle at Russell.

#1 Australian Healthy Dog & Pet Treats Company

At Bruce’s Healthy Dog Treats we understand the vital importance of nutritious dog treats. This is why Bruce sources his shop’s Australian pet treats from very specific Australian pet treat company. Our “About” tab explains more about what healthy treats for dogs really mean, and it goes well beyond what chain stores, supermarkets and corporations who solely operate for profit would have you believe. For training reward, dog food supplement, and just as a treat, your dog and cat deserve the best dog treats for sale. We get a lot of export enquiries because of our truly premium Australian pet treats philosophy and because of our insistence on healthy treats for dogs being a minimum of 80% meat. Natural dog treats Australia can mean the meat based options are either farmed or caught wild. The extra value from the wild animals sources are that they are also ORGANIC treats for dogs as well as being low fat. These are the hidden gems of natural dog treats in Australia that you rarely find in supermarkets, because they cost more to make and most of them are 100% meat dog treats, not diluted with grains or vegetables. We regularly advise clients on the best treats for the health of the whole of their dog. Whether you are looking for natural dog treats Australia or the best dog treats online you have come to the right place. What dog treats or Australian Pet Treats do you choose? There is an ongoing trend in America to sell either ghastly over processed coloured biscuits with too many additives as overpriced ‘treats’ or the opposite end of the spectrum that we know to be healthy – organic, non processed 100% meat treats dog. Our Australian Pet Treat company have been selling these kinds of treats from day one. An honest Australian pet treat company, with integrity and true understanding of dog nutrition, would know that dogs require a REAL natural diet based on prey animals not farmed vegetables. If you are on a budget and still want meat dog treats, we act as a glimmer of hope in the Australian pet treats landscape of providing affordable 100% meat products, as affordably as possible, including subsidised postage options.
