Health Risks of Having a Pet

Dogs and cats that spend time in wooded areas may pick up tiny ticks. Some ticks carry Lyme disease, which can be hard to detect and diagnose, causing long-term problems, such as irregular heartbeat, arthritis, and impaired brain function. Do a full-body inspection on your kids and yourself, too. Remove ticks from animals and humans in the same way: Disinfect the bite area with rubbing alcohol and pull the tick straight up and off with tweezers. That way, if your child or pet becomes ill over the next few weeks, you’ll have the tick for testing.

When removing ticks from pets, it’s helpful to have a second person to help prevent the animal from twisting or jerking.

How Pet Dander Impacts Lung and Sinus Health

While it’s safe to say we love our pets, we might not feel the same way about their dander. An allergy to dander is common, yet understanding and finding relief from pet allergies is a little more complicated. Reactions to dander are more than nasal irritation, they really start in our immune system. When you have pet allergies, you have a hypersensitive immune system. Allergies, while cumbersome, are merely a mistake your body makes when it perceives everyday environmental compounds as a threat.

Sometimes allergies to animals can be even worse, especially if you have some furry friends living in your home. A hypersensitive immune system means that instead of just reacting to specific bugs that could really make you sick, your immune system also reacts to harmless proteins in your pet’s dander. It’s these allergens that build up on your pet’s fur-sometimes sticking to walls, furniture, or clothes-and could even keep their strength for months. Because pet allergens can travel through the air due to petting or grooming our animals, even places without pets could have problems. If you suffer from allergies, you likely have already experienced issues at your eyes and nose.

If your allergies are mild, taking simple steps will likely be successful in cutting down on pet dander. There are also shots available that involve using the actual allergen-in this case, dander extract-to control symptoms.

USDA Health Certification Endorsement

USDA Health Certificate Endorsement All pets registered in the United States must have USDA endorsement of their dog and cat’s health certificates All resident pets leaving the United States need a health certificate issued in the United States with an official USDA endorsement stamp. Depending on your pet’s destination country, this form could be a USDA health certificate, an APHIS 7001 form or your destination country’s health certificate. The following is the procedure for acquiring USDA endorsement. Have an accredited veterinarian complete the health certificate for the country you are visiting. If you do not have the health certificate for the country your pet is traveling to, you can find it at the Pet Travel Store.

Your accredited veterinarian will complete the form including vaccination information and reflect that your pet is parasite-free and in good health. There is a fee of $38.00USD per form which includes rabies vaccination; however, your pet’s destination country may allow more than 1 animal to be listed on a form. If your vet uses separate forms for each animal, there will be a separate fee per form. Additional pets included on the same form are between $7.00 and $14.00USD. You can carry the original of the form to the USDA/APHIS/VS Area Office in your state and they will endorse and stamp them.

If the Area office is not located nearby, you can send the forms by mail. Original health certificate(s) Original rabies titer or other test results. Rabies certificate The payment in the form of credit card information or money order.

Pet Healthy Brands

As. our name – Pet Healthy Brands – implies, we are dedicated to producing the finest and healthiest, all natural, pet treats, and cat litter. Our goal is to make Pet Healthy Brands synonymous with innovative products that help monitor the health and well-being of our pets. Perfect Litter, is the lightest cat litter, with superior clumping capability, on the market – our 4-pound bag is a month’s supply versus a 28-pound bag of clay litter. Incorporating our Nada-Scent additive which eliminates urine odors, it’s the perfect litter for all indoor cats.

Our patented Wellness Indicator can be a life saver – if the cat’s urine turns the litter red, it indicates a high pH in the urine and the probability your cat may have an infection and should be diagnosed by a vet. We. have designed all of our consumable pet treats to provide irresistible taste and lean, low fat options to address the growing pet obesity epidemic. Kaviar is the original, 100% pure, premium grade, shaved Bonito Fish cat treat. Cats really go bonkers for it – healthy cat, happy owner!

Composed of organic microbes designed to attack the foul-smelling bacteria causing the ammonia odors in cat and dog urine, Nada Scent is perfect for litter boxes or kennels. Finally, rounding out our Pet Healthy product line, is ApPETizer, made from 100%, all natural Bonito Fish flakes. ApPETizer is the perfect solution for dogs or cats who have lost their appetites, and need a little encouragement to eat their dinner. This is a sprinkle-on healthy food enhancer which will stimulate your pet’s desire to dine.

The 5 best pets for your health

Our pets aren’t just our best friends; they’re members of the family. While their companionship can bring us so much joy, pets are also good for our health, according to a wealth of studies-sometimes in unexpected ways. The more attached you are to your critter, the stronger the protective benefits may be. Studies link dog ownership to lower blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels, plus a reduced risk of heart disease. A 2011 review in the Journal of physical activity and Health found that dog owners are 34 percent more likely to meet their exercise requirements than nonowners. 2 Pet with benefits: CatsNo need to hiss at this second-place finish, cat lovers.

You’re probably getting the same stress relief as dog owners; there are just fewer studies to prove it. In one, when stockbrokers with high blood pressure were given the choice of adopting a cat or a dog, both animals significantly lowered their owners’ stress responses. Cats earned a few more points toward a healthy-pet pedigree when researchers at the University of Minnesota found that people who had never owned a cat had a 40 percent higher risk of death from heart attack than cat owners. 4 Pet with benefits: BirdsHuman companions for ages, birds have only recently been recognized for their healing properties, said Gregg Takashima, DVM, president of the American association of human-animal bond veterinarians. They provide the same interactive pleasures that make cats and dogs so popular. 5 Pet with benefits: HorsesA list of healthy pets wouldn’t be complete without horses.

Healthy Pets NHPet Care Concord, NH

It was created by April Begosh, lifelong dog owner and veteran massage therapist. We believe that our dogs deserve the best care that we can give them and that you deserve to have a place where you can learn how to provide the best care. Healthy Pets NH empowers you and helps you create an environment for your pet that is safe, healthy and happy. They have physical and emotional needs just like we do. They do their best, in their own language, to communicate those needs to us.

It is our responsibility as their caretakers, their family, to learn their language and to anticipate their needs so that they can live a fulfilled life. Our goal is to create a space where dogs can get the wellness care that they need in the form of physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, reiki and other holistic and traditional services. We want to provide a place for pet parents to be able to learn more about the needs of their pets and how they can create the safest, healthiest and happiest environment for them. We do this by partnering with local vets, trainers/behaviorists, groomers, bodyworkers and nutritionists to provide activities and classes that focus on the health and welfare of our animals.

Reward for Healthy Pets

With Healthy Pet Deductible, your pet’s annual deductible automatically goes down by $50 each year that you don’t receive a claim reimbursement. Healthy Pet Deductible is included with every policy at no extra charge. Year 2 you receive no claim reimbursement, your pet is credited an additional $50 towards his deductible, a total of $100 credit. Year 3 you submit a claim for $1,200 and we apply your $100 Healthy Pet Deductible credit. Your deductible is effectively reduced from $200 to just $100.

Year 4 your Healthy Pet Deductible resets, with your pet’s deductible back at $200. Once your pet’s deductible decreases to $0, that’s as low as it can go. We’ll automatically apply any Healthy Pet Deductible credits you’ve earned when you’re eligible for reimbursement. Once you receive an accident or illness claim reimbursement greater than your current Healthy Pet Deductible credit, the Healthy Pet Deductible credit resets to zero for your next policy year. Healthy Pet Deductible applies only to accident and illness claims.

If you have more than one pet on your policy, Healthy Pet Deductible applies to each pet. Each pet accumulates and uses the Healthy Pet Deductible separately from any other pet. Embrace Exclusive Embrace is the first and only pet insurance company to offer the Healthy Pet Deductible. We consider it an important part of the commitment to our Embraced pets and pet parents.

Healthy Pets Project of NYC, Inc. was created in order to help pet owners in crisis care and keep their pet companions at home. We are a group of individuals that believe strongly and wholeheartedly in the bond between a human and a companion pet. We want to take the stigma off pet owners that even though they love their pet, sometimes they just can’t afford NYC Veterinary care. Our goal is to diminish the number of homeless and abandoned pets in New York City.

Over 20,000 pets are surrendered to our municipal animal shelters every year. It’s not simply a matter of providing food to needy pet owners. In 2016, we were able to assist 170 pets directly with our programs, and we were able to refer 54 pets to other organizations for assistance. For $15 a month: We are able to provide a vaccine to a cat or dog, a 13lbs bag of dry cat or dog food or cat wet food for a month to an existing pet in our programs! BECOME a Monthly Donor today! All donations are tax deductible.

Top 15 Reviews and Complaints about HealthyPets.com

I asked for a tracking number and she took my email address at that time so she could send it. After trying to ask how to get this quickly because I am now out of product and heading to a competition in 2 days the girl told me that they don’t offer Friday overnight services. I spoke to him and he told me they had sent an email on 6/27 telling me product was on backorder. I asked how they could have sent an email when I was just told they did not have my email address and he then read me my address and stated again they had sent an email. I asked how could I get this product quicker because my horse needs it and we are headed to competition.

Needless to say, I was livid and he finally said he could not help me and told me to call back Monday or he would have the other supervisor call me Monday. Bottom line, If I had been contacted I would have GLADLY paid the extra shipping to get the product here in time. Facts: I looked through my emails and do not see where I received an email on 6/27 stating item was on backorder. On HealthyPets website under shipping options it states that if an item for overnight service is not shipped they will phone customer. So my horse is probably not going to perform his best now at the upcoming show where I am going to be out a lot of money in entry fees, etc.

If you need something for your horse order elsewhere. Some equine companies are staffed by people who actually own and compete horses and realize what people invest in time, effort and money to keep a horse performing i.e. what it means to keep your horse on meds.

Guide To Happy & Healthy Pets

Healthy Pets Healthy Streets

Each pet that receives spay/neuter services also receives a free microchip, a rabies vaccination and a one year pet license. The initiative offers free spay/neuter and wellness services to pet owners in neighborhoods with a large number of stray animals and dog bite complaints in the City. Each pet that receives spay/neuter services also receives free a microchip, a rabies vaccination and a one year pet license. WHY WE’RE DOING IT:As the fourth largest city in the United States and with a favorable year-round climate for stray and homeless animals, Houston has a large and ever-growing animal overpopulation problem. Although many individual organizations have worked to help reduce the problem across the community, it has become clear that a strong partnership of pet advocates in Houston needed to come together and take on the problem together.

We have teamed up with several of Houston’s top pet advocacy organizations, Friends for Life as Houston’s leading No Kill shelter, SNAP,Emancipet, and Houston Humane Society to use a strategic, targeted approach to reduce pet overpopulation, promote pet wellness, and educate Houstonians on what responsible pet ownership looks like. More healthy and sterilized pets also mean healthier and safer streets and sidewalks. This project is a comprehensive quality of life improvement for both the pets and the people living in the impacted areas. Given the sheer size of Houston and the fact that hundreds of thousands of stray animals roam the streets each day, a strategic approach was critical in order to ensure a true reduction in pet overpopulation across the community over time. Pet advocacy groups in Austin, Texas successfully used this approach, and we hope to repeat that success in Houston.

You can also help by educating others about being responsible pet owners. As we continue launching additional efforts in neighborhoods across the community, your donation can help more and more pets get the services they need.

Healthy and balanced diet for your dog

Without water to drink, your dog may become seriously ill within hours. Give your dog constant access to clean drinking water. Your dog needs a well-balanced diet to keep them healthy. Make sure your dog eats a diet suitable for their age, lifestyle and health status. Why not try our dog food? Feed your dog at least once each day, unless advised otherwise by your vet. Most human meals will not provide dogs with the nutrition they need. Such as chocolate and onions, can even be poisonous to dogs. How much your dog needs to eat depend on their diet, lifestyle and health. Read and follow the feeding instructions on any dog foods that you buy. Adjust how much you feed your dog to make sure they don’t become under or overweight. If your dog’s eating or drinking habits change, find or call a vet, as your dog could be ill.

Learning About Canine Vet Care

If you have a new puppy you need to make sure it gets all the right vaccinations and regular checkups from the veterinarian. You also have to remember to do some things on your own at home. One thing you may neglect to think about is your puppy’s paws. Below are four tips to keep your puppy’s paws free from infection and injury. Trim the Fur Make sure you keep the fur trimmed between your puppies pads often. If your furry family member is scratching and biting at himself excessively, it is important to determine the cause of his misery sooner than later. A persistent state of itchiness is a source of discomfort for your dog or cat, and his constant attempts to relieve the itch can lead to further complications. Parasitic Pests Flea infestations are the most common cause of itching and scratching in dogs and cats. Your new chinchilla can develop a wide range of health conditions, including familiar ones like diarrhea. Here are four things chinchilla owners need to know about chinchillas. Why do chinchillas get diarrhea? Chinchillas can get diarrhea for many reasons, ranging from minor to serious. Dietary changes are a common cause of diarrhea, so avoid straying from the recommended diet of hay and pellets. Unlike other small pets, such as guinea pigs and rabbits, chinchillas shouldn’t eat greens as they will get diarrhea from these foods.
